If you watched something brilliant this week, there's a good chance one of ours helped make it.
First up, Citadel Season 2 dropped on Amazon Prime on 6th May — all seven episodes at once. The globe-spanning spy thriller stars Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Stanley Tucci, and was filmed on location in Wales. No fewer than nine Production Guild members were part of this show: Simon J Aguirre (1st Assistant Director), Carla Donato (Stunt Department Coordinator), Tim Jolly (Location Manager), Tom Maguire (Financial Controller), Paul Tomlinson (Supervising Location Manager), Jamie Lengyel (Unit Production Manager), Arabella Gilbert (2nd Unit Production Manager), Simon Downes (2nd Unit 2nd Assistant Director), Lisa Mitchinson (Assistant Accountant).
Also landing this week on Netflix, Legends is a six-episode true crime thriller set in the early 1990s, following a team of ordinary Customs and Excise employees sent undercover in a top-secret operation to infiltrate Britain's most dangerous drug gangs — building entirely new identities, known as 'legends', to survive in the criminal underworld. Written and created by Neil Forsyth and starring Tom Burke, Steve Coogan and Hayley Squires, it's already being hailed as one of the year's standout British dramas. Guild member Michael Kilpatrick served as Financial Controller on the production.
Also landing this week on BBC One and iPlayer, Amandaland returns for a second series — the spin-off from beloved BBC comedy Motherland, starring Lucy Punch, Joanna Lumley and Philippa Dunne. The series follows Amanda, a divorced mother who has relocated with her teenagers to South Harlesden, navigating modern parenting chaos, teenage rebellion and her mother's increasingly complicated presence in her life. Sharp, funny and utterly relatable — and with Guild member Dougal Mackenzie Smith (Production Manager) right at the heart of it.
And rounding out a remarkable week, The Sheep Detectives arrived in cinemas today — a charming and brilliantly crafted film with six Guild members on the crew: Simon Mills (Unit Production Manager), Lorraine Edwards (Production Supervisor & Production Guild Board Member), Adam Hughes (Production Manager 2nd Unit), Aurelia Thomas (Supervising Location Manager), Tim Wellspring (Executive Producer) and Daniel Palmer (Financial Controller). The film follows a shepherd (Hugh Jackman) who reads detective novels to his beloved sheep — and when a mysterious incident disrupts life on the farm, it's the sheep who must become the detectives. This week's Member in Focus also shines a light on Lorraine Edwards — head to the newsletter to read her full interview.
