He-Man. Skeletor. A scheming aristocrat and a very unfortunate pox outbreak. Our members had range this week.
First, the blockbuster event of the summer. Masters of the Universe hits cinemas on 5th June — and after 35 years, He-Man is finally back on the big screen where he belongs. Nicholas Galitzine stars as Prince Adam, an ordinary young man who discovers his true destiny when the Sword of Power calls him back to Eternia — a world shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor. Directed by Travis Knight and starring Idris Elba, Jared Leto, Kristen Wiig and Camila Mendes alongside Galitzine, this is the kind of film made for the biggest screen you can find. Seven Guild members were part of the production: Rich Yeomans (VFX Producer), Russell Lodge (2nd Unit Production Manager), James Grant (Unit Production Manager), Bettina Lyster (Production Supervisor), Claire Kenny (Assistant Accountant), Anna Rose Hennessy (2nd Unit Production Coordinator) and Kyren Parker (Production Accountant). Rich is also this week's Member in Focus — head to the newsletter to read his full interview.
And for something altogether more British — and considerably more chaotic — Savage House arrives in cinemas this week, a darkly comic period satire set in 18th century England, following the gloriously unscrupulous Sir Chauncey Savage as he scrambles to impress the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire — with preparations that spiral catastrophically into duels, decadence and bloodshed. Starring Richard E. Grant and Claire Foy in what is shaping up to be one of the most wickedly entertaining British films of the year. Guild member Richard George (Supervising Location Manager) was part of the team that brought 18th century England gloriously to screen.
