In new releases this week, there’s a hugely welcome (and Valentine’s Day-appropriate) return for the nation’s favourite self-described “verbally incontinent spinster, who smokes like a chimney, drinks like a fish and dresses like her mother.”
24 years after first arriving on our screens, Bridget Jones is back for a fourth outing: Mad About The Boy, once again starring Renée Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, as well as newcomers Leo Woodall and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Seven PGGB Members worked on the Working Title-produced film: Rachel Neale, Sarah Jane Wright, Siobhan Boyes, Terry Ashby, John Gillet, Andrew Dalmahoy and Marc Ronnie.
Fifteen of our Partners and Affiliates – Location One, Universal Production Services, CineArk, CAMA, Sky Studios Elstree, The Base Camp Co., Buddha Group, Sargent-Disc, Team Engine, Film Offices: UK, London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, Sara Putt Associates, Location Collective & OMA Studio Group, BDC Media & Entertainment and FilmFixer – also worked on the production.
Also in film this week, there a slightly more unusual Valentine’s release coming to streaming in the form of Scott Derrickson’s sci-fi horror The Gorge. Starring Miles Teller, Anya Taylor-Joy and Sigourney Weaver, the film is on Apple TV+ now.
PGGB Members Rich Yeomans, Mike Renton, Pamela Joyce, Joshua Smith, Carmen Marina and Tilly O’Hara worked on the production, alongside Partners Cineark and Warner Bros Studios Leavesden.
In television, there’s the return of Jack Rooke’s much loved semi-autobiographical coming of age tale Big Boys for a third and final season. PGGB Member Ewin Thomas was Production Accountant on the series, with Partners and Affiliates Team Engine, Film Offices: UK, Loop Talent, Sara Putt Associates, Location Collective & OMA Studio Group, TPH Global, FilmFixer and Chapters also involved.
Finally, this week sees the release of BBC’s new Bradford-set crime thriller Virdee, adapted by A A Dhand from his own series of crime novels. PGGB Member Liv Taylor was Production Manager on the series, alongside Partners and Affiliates CineArk, Buddha Group, TAG UK, Facilities by ADF, Team Engine, Loop Talent, Sara Putt Associates, Media Insurance Brokers Ltd and 6ft From the Spotlight.
