What does the Course Include?

Week 1: Online Foundation Sessions  

Week One comprises four half-day sessions and one extended session, establishing a shared foundation of industry knowledge through interactive presentations, discussion and Q&A.

  • Topics will include:
  • Introduction to Sustainability in HETV and how it works on set
  • Introduction to carbon foot-printing and calculation
  • Bafta Albert
  • Grid power
  • Understanding generators
  • Batteries
  • Hydrogen
  • Low-carbon vehicles and EV charging

 

Week 2: Practical Workshops

Five full-day workshops at Garden Studios will focus on applying your knowledge through:

  • Scenario-based exercises and role play
  • Group problem-solving
  • Site visits
  • Sessions with specialist guest speakers
  • A mock-production project and final sustainability-plan presentation

 

Mentoring

Each participant will be paired with a dedicated mentor from the Neptune Sustainability team who you will meet during the programme.  You will receive up to 10 hours of support via video call over the following six months. 

Mentoring will help you apply your learning in real production settings, build confidence, navigate challenges and continue your professional development.

 

Placements

Five participants will be selected by productions contributing to the ScreenSkills High End TV Skills fund to receive a funded placement in the role of a Sustainability Co-ordinator in 2027. 

 

Course Timings

Week 1: Online

Sessions will be live and interactive. Please ensure you are available to attend every session, as completion of week one is required to progress to the practical training in week two.

  • Monday 2 November: 2.00pm–5.30pm
  • Tuesday 3 November: 11.00am–5.30pm
  • Wednesday 4 November: 2.00pm–5.30pm
  • Thursday 5 November: 2.00pm–5.30pm
  • Friday 6 November: 2.00pm–5.30pm

 

Week 2: In person

This week will include practical training, site visits and sessions with industry specialists.  

  • Monday 9 - Friday 13 November: 9.30am–5.00pm
    Location: Garden Studios

 

Who is this course for?

This course is for those currently working as Assistant Coordinators or Assistant Location Managers in scripted HETV, or those with equivalent relevant industry experience. It is not suitable for new entrants.
