In new releases from PGGB Members and Partners this week, we're highlighting the long-awaited return of everybody's favourite marmalade-loving bear.
Paddington in Peru, in cinemas today, sees the duffel-coated bear (Ben Whishaw) travel to South America to pay a visit to his beloved Aunt Lucy along with the Brown family. On arrival at the home for retired bears he’s told by a guitar-playing nun (Olivia Colman) that Lucy has trekked into the jungle on a mysterious quest, sending Paddington with the Brown's in tow on an unexpected journey in the Amazon rainforest and mountains of Peru.
Also releasing this week is new film Bird which follows a 12-year-old who lives with her brother and single dad in a squat in North Kent. As she approaches puberty she seeks attention and adventure elsewhere. The drudgery of everyday life is thrown off kilter when she meets Bird, a mysterious stranger on a journey of his own.
Finally, in television is the release of The Day of the Jackal to Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW. In a modern retelling of the 70's novel and subsequent iconic film, Eddie Redmayne stars as notorious assassin The Jackal, who lives a normal double life away from his murderous career path opposite co-star Lashana Lynch who plays tenacious MI6 agent Bianca.
Her relentless pursuit of The Jackal leads to a global cat-and-mouse chase where there can only be one winner, leaving devastation in their wake.
