The session will cover the upgrades to the Audio Visual Expenditure Credit (AVEC) which benefit VFX, and show how the UK has become a much more competitive destination as a result. With the rate for VFX rising to 29.25% net and the 80% cap lifted, we will explore which VFX expenses qualify. The session will also look at how post and VFX can be eligible expenses for AVEC incentivised at nearly 40% within the Independent Film Tax Credit.

About the speaker:
Neil Hatton is the Chief Executive of the UK Screen Alliance, the trade association for around 200 employers in the Post Production, Visual Effects (VFX) and Animation sectors in the UK. Neil represents these sectors on many influential committees including the Creative Industries Council. He was a prime mover in getting increased tax incentives for VFX; he wrote the Covid guidance for Post; and has co developed apprenticeships and other training courses. Prior to becoming the CEO of the UK Screen Alliance, Neil owned and ran post production companies and worked as an editor in unscripted TV. He was awarded an MBE in the King’s New Years Honours for his service to VFX and animation.
