Erica Bensly - Production Manager

Tue 18th Dec 2018

Erica was one of our most experienced and well-loved Production Managers.  She began co-ordinating in the early 1990s on productions such as Richard III, The Borrowers, Robinson Crusoe, The Avengers, and Planet of the Apes.

She broke into PM'ing on the reshoots of Elizabeth and she then gave her expertise to productions as a Production Manager and UPM for nearly 20 years.  Her credits included The King's SpeechDracula Untold, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Doctor Strange, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, as well as a rather interesting job as an Assistant Horse Couturier on Alexander!

In the last few years, some of you will have dealt with Erica in a new role as Business Development Manager at PG affiliate, Helicopter Film Services, providing services to productions in all aspects of aerial filming.

Matthew Lawson, Production Accountant
"Erica was the Production Manager on my very first film in the industry, The King's Speech. I remember nervously venturing into the kitchen on my first day and she greeted me so warmly it set a nice and calming tone for me. She was a kind, gentle woman and it was a pleasure to have worked alongside her on what turned out to be such an internationally well received film. Rest in peace Erica."

Charlotte Wright, Location Manager
"I was so sad to hear of Erica’s passing yesterday. I remember her as I was beginning my career and how she told me how to cope and unwind when things got tough. Our job is wonderful and hard all at the same time and she always had a sense of calm and grace about her I will never forget. My thoughts are with her family and friends and this difficult time."

Laura Burrows
"I worked with Erica over ten years ago on a small film in Morocco. I was much saddened to hear of her passing - it seemed unbelievable that a lady with so much light, humour and energy is no longer with us. I remember her bouncing on her huge exercise ball at her desk, smiling and twinkling - nothing seemed to phase her! My deepest condolences to her loved ones."
