On Thursday 14th September, PGGB Platinum Partners and friends CIneArk hosted an exclusive open day for our members.CineArk is a leading supplier of DIT, Video Playback, transmitters and comms equipment, along with experienced crew for TV and film productions in the UK and worldwide.
They’re also passionate about skills and training, so were very keen to provide a forum to network and stay up to date with some technology and industry developments, covering topics from across the sector.
The event was such a success that they’re holding another!
You can find details on that below, but first we caught up with a couple of PGGB Members who attended the last event: Production Safety Lead Matt Spooner (No Time To Die, Mary Poppins Returns) and Production Manager Aneta Chalas (Black Widow, Luther: The Fallen Sun)
Matt Spooner:
“The CineArk Open Day provided a unique opportunity to really get to grips with the technical aspects of what our DIT and Video team do on a day-to-day basis for our productions. All too often when you are in the throes of a busy show, you don’t keep up to date with how these roles are developing. CineArk provided a fantastic overview not only of the latest technology that they have on offer, but also gave a detailed analysis of how this is used throughout the production process.
It wasn’t only about the tech, as the team also made a concerted effort to bring us all together in a time when so many of us are in difficult positions as we eagerly await the restart of production and filming. Well done and thank you to all at CineArk!”
Aneta Chalas:
“The session at Cineark was a fantastic idea for production crew to get a better understanding of the technical equipment - what is required, how it works and different options available. As a PM we’re often asked for a more expensive piece of kit and this was a great opportunity to see exactly why you’d need it. The session was also intimate enough so everyone had an opportunity to ask any questions without judgement.
I only wish more vendors would organise something similar - after all we work in a very fast paced environment with new innovations constantly being released, so it’s great to see it up close and understand.”
