The BAFTA Television Craft Awards were announced last night at a ceremony in London, celebrating the exceptional creativity, skill and craft of behind-the-scenes television talent and the best programmes of 2023.
We were delighted to see a number of productions worked on by PGGB Members among those honoured, as well as the BAFTA Television Craft Special Award, one of the highest honours bestowed by the academy, awarded to our partners and friends MAMA Youth Project.
MAMA Youth Project works to equip young people aged 18-25 with the skills and experience to secure long-term, fulfilling employment in the TV and media industry, with particular focus on young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with limited educational or employment opportunities.
We are huge admirers of their work, and have worked very closely with them over the last couple of years. At the PGGB Awards in 2022, we raised £14,000 for the organisation, and hosted an in conversation piece with founder and CEO Bob Clarke on Inclusion in the Film and TV Industry, which you can watch here.
MAMA Youth were also nominated for our inaugural Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award at the PGGB Talent Showcase in 2023, and were visited by our Royal Patron HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in January of that year as part of the nomination process. We look forward to continuing to work with them, and to supporting their brilliant initiatives to make our industry and more inclusive sustainable space for all.
The Awards were a celebration of excellence in television, and we congratulate all of the winners for another year of exceptional on-screen content. We’d like to give a special mention to the following award-winning productions, and the PGGB Members who worked on them:
Big Boys (Season 2): Gareth Blake (Assistant Production Coordinator)
