In new releases this week, we’re highlighting the comedy film The Ballad of Wallis Island starring Carey Mulligan, Tim Key and Tom Basden. The film follows an eccentric lottery winner who lives alone on a remote island and tries to make his fantasies come true by getting his favourite musicians to perform at his home. Primarily filmed along the coast of Wales, The Ballad of Wallis Island premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and will be released in UK cinemas this week.

Coming to Netflix this week is the crime thriller series Dept. Q, which revolves around a former top-rated detective who tackles a cold case that will consume his life. The series was filmed at FirstStage Studios as well as on location in Edinburgh, where the show is set.
