US network NBC has ordered a pilot of Odyssey, a global conspiracy thriller produced by the UK-arm of Red Arrow Entertainment. The move by NBC marks one of the most significant drama projects from a UK indie to be picked up by a US broadcast network. Red Arrow is the London-based arm of the ProSiebenSat.1-owned producer, set up by former Sky boss James Baker in 2011. The series has been described by the producers as an intelligent multi-stranded thriller, loosely based on Homer’s Odyssey and inspired by the style of narcotics film Traffic. Odyssey, which is being developed outside of the traditional US development cycle, is exec produced by Red Arrow’s head of drama and comedy Simon Maxwell. The show, which will go into production early next year, was co-written by The Following writers Adam Armus and Kay Foster and Grey’s Anatomy director Peter Horton. It is being produced in association with Universal Television, where Armus and Foster have an overall production deal, and Fabrik Entertainment.
