The production of High-End television in the UK is growing at an unprecedented rate resulting in the need for a significant expansion of the UK workforce to meet demand in every key production hub across the UK as well as ensure this expanding workforce is inclusive.
The HETV Regional Working Group have funded a part time HETV Junior Regional Engagement Manager role to promote the work of the HETV Skills fund to production teams and crew shooting in the English regions outside of London.
Working alongside the wider HETV Team they will visit sets and production bases to promote the HETV Skills programmes to regional TV industry production companies and productions shooting in the region, to ensure that the HETV offering (including bursaries, short courses, training, and transfer programmes) is understood at a mid/senior level.
They will develop, build and maintain relationships with current participants and HETV Skills funded alumni supported across all HETV programmes. They will also track regional participants from all HETV programmes to see how their training has helped them to either enter or step up and move forward in their careers and signpost ScreenSkills HETV alumni to relevant training which could help them progress in their careers. This role will work closely with the HETV Head of Mid-Career Progression, HETV Senior New Entrant Manager, Senior HETV Professional Skills and Projects Manager and HETV Make a Move and Progression manager to identify regional productions to meet and support.
Key responsibilities:
• To promote the HETV Skills Programmes to regional TV industry production companies and productions shooting in the region to ensure that the HETV offering (including bursaries, short courses, training and transfer programmes) is understood at a mid/senior level.
• To promote the work of the HETV Skills fund to production teams and crew shooting in the regions
• To develop, build and maintain relationships with current participants and HETV Skills funded alumni supported across all HETV programmes.
• To track regional participants from all HETV programmes to see how their training has helped them either enter or step up and move forward in their careers.
• To signpost ScreenSkills HETV alumni to relevant training which could help them progress in their careers
• Lead on ensuring feedback from participants is gathered, reviewed, and any recommended improvements acted on.
• Identify ‘super users’ of the HETV Fund on a series of productions and engage then in becoming active ambassadors of the HETV Fund and its outcomes on productions and beyond.
• Work on bespoke physical and virtual marketing materials and social campaigns to ensure the Fund is reaching more freelancers.
• Work collaboratively across ScreenSkills teams to ensure a joined-up approach to the company skills strategy.
• Work on a social campaign to involve the ‘super user ambassadors’ in good new stories about the Funds impact and outcomes.
• Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to design effective marketing strategies for the programmes under the roles management and exploit opportunities to utilise social media for campaigns and for information share.
• To provide regular progress reports to the HETV Engagement and Projects Manager – North and Midlands and the Regional Working Group on all of the above and to flag any skills issues or shortages in the regions.
• Provide reports as needed for the HETV Councils and Working Groups
• Work with the wider HETV team to support regional delivery and outreach.
• Attend wider industry events when required acting as an ambassador for the wider HETV team events and representing the fund when required.
• Liaise with other project managers across the HETV team and wider ScreenSkills to ensure collaborative working across our training programmes.
• Work in collaboration with the HETV Engagement and Projects Manager – North and Midlands and Digital team to ensure tracking functionality to create further profile for HETV skills activities and engagement with the workforce and better access to data for the team.
Skills and experiences:
Essential:
• Project management experience with the ability to execute and implement projects with minimal guidance
• Understanding of production practices in relation to the TV workforce
• Have strong contacts with key industry talent and Production companies in the Regions
• Must be a ‘completer finisher’ and have a passion for attention to detail
• Budget management experience • Adept at using own initiative to ensure delivery remains on track
• Experience and knowledge of the UK TV industry
• Knowledge of “out of” London public agencies and out of London industry
• Ability to develop and maintain partnerships and relationships
• Excellent communication, organizational, planning and execution skills
• Effective positive human relations skills including tact, diplomacy, and ability to work with all levels of staff and leadership
• Thrives in a multitask orientated environment
Preferred:
• Experience in a skills related role
• Good writing and proof-reading skills
• Adept at using social media as an effective communication tool
