We are pleased to share an update from our business partner Shinfield Studios.
Shinfield Studios is on its way to becoming one of the largest new film and television studios in the UK. The huge 1,000,000 square-foot site currently boasts 13 sound stages out of the planned 18, with sizes ranging from 17,500 to 43,000 square feet.
Brand new, state of the art facilities that include workshops, luxury office suites, a multi-storey carpark and a 9-acre backlot are also complete. Notably, it hosts the country's largest completely soundproofed, fully air-conditioned, and heated sound stages.
Over the last 18 months, as parts of the site have become functional, Shinfield Studios has proudly welcomed esteemed film and high-end television (HETV) productions from industry giants such as Disney, Sony and Netflix amongst others.
The studios 18 stages will be fully operational by Q1 2024 and will offer the most modern film and high-end television (HETV) studio facilities available in the UK today.
To truly grasp the grandeur of this facility and appreciate the meticulous attention to detail instilled by our experienced management team, an in-person visit is essential. The sound stages are a marvel in themselves, most boasting an impressive 50-foot clearance height and the capacity to support up to one tonne of weight per 6-metre runway beam via full-length overhead gantries. Stage and workshop dock doors stand tall at 6 metres, and each stage is accompanied by its own ancillary block with welfare facilities.
Sustainability and accessibility are core principles, with features such as air source heat pumps, solar panels, climate-controlled spaces, automated lighting, and temperature controls. Shinfield's facilities make it easier for productions to achieve Albert Sustainability Certification. The entire site also adheres to DDA compliance, with accessible toilet facilities available on every stage and office floor, complemented by accessible kitchens on each office floor.
Shinfield Studios is based in Berkshire, within the Thames Valley Science Park, and just 35 miles from London. It’s a convenient location for UK crew with ample parking, EV charging points and easy access to public transportation from Reading station. A fast train to London’s Soho is less than 30 mins!
