In new releases this week, we’re spotlighting a new Netflix drama based on the true story of a David and Goliath struggle over contaminated waste in a small Northamptonshire town.
Toxic Town depicts the real-life battle of families in Corby whose children were born with defects, in one of the UK's biggest environmental scandals.
Filmed mainly in the North West, Jack Thorne’s drama stars Jodie Whittaker, Robert Carlyle and Aimee Lou Wood amongst a brilliant ensemble cast, and is available on Netflix now.
PGGB Members Munawar Ahmad, Louise Marie Smith and Matthew Steggles worked on the production, alongside Partners Location One, CAMA, Facilities by ADF, Team Engine, Mission Digital, Salon Rentals, Loop Talent, Sara Putt Associates, BDC Media & Entertainment and Chapters.
Also in television, Small Town, Big Story sees Chris O’Dowd returns to his roots with offbeat Irish comedy drama with a strange sci-fi twist.
Starring Christina Hendricks and Paddy Considine, the six-part series follows a hotshot Hollywood producer who returns to her rural home village, the fictional Drumbán, to make a movie.
PGGB Member Noelette Buckley was the Head of Production, and Partners CineArk, SetKeeper, Sara Putt Associates and Media Insurance Brokers Ltd were also involved.
Finally this week, Fight or Flight comes to Sky Cinema. A wild thriller set in the clouds, the film stars Josh Hartnett as a mercenary tasked with finding a mysterious criminal on a flight full of assassins.
PGGB Debbie Moore was Financial Controller, and Partner Sargent-Disc provided the payroll service.
