Filmhouse (Edinburgh) Ltd. (FEL) is a new charitable company established to relaunch and operate Filmhouse, Scotland’s leading cultural cinema.
Our vision is for Filmhouse to be a world class cultural cinema for Scotland’s capital, contributing to the common good by connecting people with the full diversity of cinematic forms. After significant progress in fundraising and planning, we are now about to begin a major renovation of the premises at 88 Lothian Road, with a view to re-opening the cinema in late spring 2025.
The Learning & Engagement Officer is a creative and administrative role responsible for planning and delivering Filmhouse’s objectives around formal education initiatives and informal learning activities. Filmhouse aims to ensure the widest access to film education for people of all ages and from all backgrounds; and to use its position as a knowledge hub and delivery infrastructure to support and add value to Edinburgh’s wider screen education ecosystem. The outlook for screen education in Scotland is as strong as it has ever been due to the recent decision to include this field in the Curriculum for Excellence schools curriculum. Reporting to the Programme Director, the Learning & Engagement Officer will lead on developing Filmhouse’s role in the context of that strategic national shift.
The role is full time at 37.5 hours per week, including daytime, evening and weekend work as required for the proper performance of the role. TOIL will be applicable for weekend work. The role will be based on-site at Filmhouse on Lothian Road. We anticipate that the role will begin in March 2025.
