In London's heatwave Production Guild company affiliate The Film Office have facilitated numerous film productions in our boroughs, and Tower Hamlets & Newham schools have been on hand working with them, to facilitate the needs of their productions too.
They have a variety of schools on their books for filming and photography, and in the summer holiday's these locations become pinnacle sites for production's for filming, production basing and even a source of work experience for them in the office.
Sir John Cass School in Stepney recently provided a great holding area for a TV Drama 'Giri/Hadi' filming in the borough to use as a base. In addition to this Raines Lower Foundation facilitated a Feature Film as a holding base for their catering needs. Schools in the borough have also facilitated parking needs for commercials and Television Series minimising the on street parking in the borough.
Location manager Jeremy DeCoursey commented on the matter: "Our production has really benefitted by being able to utilise the space within Sir John Cass school. We were able to park all our vehicles, use the toilets, have crowd changing and an area to setup our running lunch. Allowing us to base ourselves within the school meant we could be more mindful when filming in the area and reduce the impact a film crew may normally have on local residents."
Film Officer Emily said: "Schools play a big part in facilitating film crew's in London and we are always looking for more to register on our books. It's great to involve the community and council schools in the filming we manage."
