During the lock down you might not get a seat in the stalls or the circle, but your guaranteed a front row spot from your sofa. Take a look at the free online theatre and film that is available during this period.

THEATRE

Andrew Lloyd Webber
Andrew Lloyd Webber will be streaming his musicals for free online in a new series for West End and Broadway fans. Entitled "The Shows Must Go On", the series will start with the 2000 adaptation of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat starring Donny Osmond, Maria Friedman, Richard Attenborough and Joan Collins.

Shows will be available for 48 hours from Friday 3 April at 7pm BST on "The Shows Must Go On" via their YouTube channel.

Shakespeare's Globe
The venue will release 40 free titles, with six mainstage shows accompanied by 34 that were created as part of the venue's epic "Globe to Globe" series of international performances. Find out more here.

The National Theatre at Home
The National just unveiled a brand new scheme to beam its NTLive shows onto the web – and all through YouTube. It kicks off with One Man, Two Guvnors. Find out more.

The BBC has announced further shows it'll be broadcasting – six RSC shows (which will then be on iPlayer) as well as BAC's five-star Frankenstein. Find out more.

The Royal Opera House 
The Royal Opera House will be offering a free programme of curated online broadcasts, musical masterclasses and cultural insights that get under the skin of both ballet and opera and offer everyone a unique look behind the scenes at one of the world's most famous cultural institutions. This will include the following productions offered on demand and for free via the ROH’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

The Metropolitan Opera 
New York's The Met Opera has launched Nightly Opera Streams continue with a week of performances that show off opera at its most thrilling, thought-provoking, and uplifting. A full schedule for the week is available here.

FILM


Focus Features will livestream a movie for free - via its Facebook page, with a new one every Monday. 

Free HBO. You can now stream hundreds of hours' worth of programming, including every season of Barry, Silicon Valley and Veep. There are also some family-friendly movies, like The Lego Movie 2 and Pokemon Detective Pikachu. Read more
