On Tuesday 7th May, The Production Guild of Great Britain welcomed some of the best below the line talent in the sector from across ‘God’s Own Country’ to the launch of their sixth and final Nations and Regions Committee.
Hosted by Dakota Hotel Leeds, PGGB CEO Lyndsay Duthie and Deputy CEO Michael Beavan presented our brand new Yorkshire Committee to all attendees. The Committee is made up of Liza Bolton (chair), Ian Roberts (co-vice chair), Lynn Roberts (co-vice chair), Faizal Harshim and Wayne Noir.
The tone – celebrating Yorkshire’s huge successes in the sector – was set earlier on in the day, as PGGB worked with partner Versa Studios Leeds to offer tours to all attendees around one of the biggest production spaces across the whole of the region, which were brilliantly attended. Versa then joined us at the reception, sponsored and attended by Sunbelt Rentals.
Yorkshire has played host to some of the world’s biggest feature and HETV Productions in recent years. Ranging from Marvel’s Secret Invasion to the groundbreaking Happy Valley from Sally Wainwright, and with jaw-dropping titles such as Mission Impossible and Indiana Jones in between, amongst many, many others.
Yorkshire is supported by the behemoth Screen Yorkshire, one of the bodies behind Screen Alliance North alongside Liverpool Film Office, North East Screen and Screen Manchester, who were awarded BFI Skills Cluster funding in 2023 to deliver training across their areas.
Yorkshire has ample numbers of talented and experienced crew who can call upon great writers, locations, and support from all angles, including PGGB and the British Film Commission, who were also in attendance.
PGGB are hugely pleased and excited to have launched the final Nations and Regions Committee, following on from Bristol and South West, North West, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales – and to recently welcome Jonny Shelton, their new Talent Executive, who is their first regional hire. Based down the M62 in Manchester, one of the key areas Jonny will be focusing on going forward is the work and delivery of value across PGGB’s Nations and Regions.
