Scouting September 2013 New World is Company Pictures’ follow up to 2008’s lavish period drama The Devil’s Whore. The 4 x 60 minute series returns to the story of Angelica in the 1680s, when she has become Countess of Abingdon and has a daughter, Beth. Written by Peter Flannery and Martine Brant, it is based during a period of “torture, show trials and summary executions” as the restored monarchy of Charles II “betrays its promise of tolerance and reverts to tyranny”. Some of the action will be set in the US, where “New England colonists are struggling to throw off the shackles of the English crown”.
