Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Production Accountant to join our finance team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations across a busy, tech-driven production environment. You’ll support multiple productions and internal company accounts by processing accounts payable, tracking budgets, reconciling expenses and maintaining accurate financial records.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Accounting & Financial Administration
● Execute daily accounting tasks including data entry, expense coding, and financial record keeping
● Process production expenses in line with approved budgets and cost categories
● Maintain and track petty cash and floats
● Prepare purchase orders and reconcile credit card receipts
● Organise and maintain digital and physical filing systems for financial documentation
● Support financial processes across both individual projects and broader company operations
Accounts Payable
● Process vendor invoices, ensuring accurate approvals and budget alignment
● Enter invoices into accounting systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks) and coordinate payment runs
● Maintain vendor records and ensure all supporting documentation is correctly uploaded
● Resolve discrepancies or payment issues with vendors and internal teams
● Liaise with department leads to confirm receipt of goods and services
Production & Company Financial Support
● Assist with tracking and reconciling production spend against budgets
● Contribute to cost reports and financial summaries under guidance
● Support onboarding for crew/vendors including contract processing and start paperwork
● Assist in the preparation of tax credit submissions and union/guild reporting
● Help with production closeout accounting and final cost reporting
● Maintain and update tracking spreadsheets and internal financial logs
● Support preparation of periodic management accounts
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
● 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in film, television, or media production
● Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and financial workflows
● Familiarity with production terminology and budgeting structures
● Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills
● Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
● Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines
Technical Skills
● Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks)
● Experience with approval workflow platforms (e.g., ApprovalMax)
● Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
● Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite
● Quick to adapt and learn new digital tools
Preferred Experience
● Exposure to virtual production, VFX, or post-production environments
● Knowledge of production accounting software (PMI, Eclipse)
● Familiarity with entertainment payroll systems (EP, Cast & Crew, GreenSlate)
● Understanding of tax incentive processes and reporting
● Experience using budgeting tools (Movie Magic, Hot Budget, Showbiz Budgeting)
● Awareness of financial compliance and control best practice
