6ft From The Spotlight is a non-profit community interest company set up to promote improved mental health support for crew across the creative industries by providing training and practical tools for crew and the productions that they work on.
Formed in 2017 they have since provided a range of Mental Health training to hundreds of crew members in film, TV, theatre and music, These include Mental health Awareness, Stress Risk Assessment, Mental Health and the Law, MHFA and i-act Managing and Promoting Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing.
Since the pandemic they have been working with production companies and the BFI to train and embed the role of Wellbeing and Safeguarding Facilitator (WBF) onto sets. The WBF is a neutral third party who is there primarily to support the crew and cast with the rigours of filming but also to help the production meet its legal duty of care to everyone that works creating brilliant content.
6ft From The Spotlight created a series of podcasts hosted by Matt Longley and Leo Anna Thomas to help crew through the pandemic, discussing a range of topics on mental health, wellbeing and stress.
They have contributed to many webinars and masterclasses for BECTU, BAFTA, BFI, BFC and Digital Orchard Foundation.
Their work has been used as a case study by the Health and safety executive due to the way that we have applied their stress management standards to Film and TV Production.
Their credits include The Lost Girls, This Way Up, Pretty Red Dress, Scrapper, The Peripheral, Gangs of London, Grantchester, Junior Bake Off.
