A Jane Austen adaptation, a Sharon Horgan comedy and a missing persons thriller. Our members have had quite the autumn.
First, Sense and Sensibility arrived in UK cinemas from today - Georgia Oakley's charming, witty and irresistible new take on Jane Austen's beloved classic, following the Dashwood sisters as they navigate love, loss and the strict social expectations of Regency-era England after the death of their father leaves the family facing financial ruin. Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles - and with four brilliant Guild members central to this Working Title and Focus Features production: Angela Moneke (Executive Producer), Craig Barwick (Financial Controller), Ewan Taylor, (Production Accountant) and Jimmy McSparron (Health and Safety Advisor).
And landing on HBO and HBO Max, Youth — Sharon Horgan's brilliant new comedy — follows Alex, a 50-year-old divorced literary agent navigating dating, ageing parents and a son who absolutely refuses to leave home, in a series already being described as bawdy, bittersweet and unmissably sharp. Filmed in London for Merman Productions, with new episodes airing weekly every Sunday through to 1st November. Guild member Anna Watson served as Location Manager on the series.
Earlier this month, Last Seen landed on Apple TV+ on 9th September — a gripping six-part thriller following Ian Ridley, a former detective turned police dispatcher, who receives a distress call from a teenage girl he is convinced is his daughter Maggie — missing without trace for eleven years. Starring Patrick Brammall and Maxine Peake, directed by Christian Schwochow and produced by our partners 60Forty Films. Guild member Karl Liegis served as Head of Production on this extraordinary production.
