From the English countryside to the Allied command room — via a very bewitching kitchen — our members have been everywhere worth watching this week and last.
First, a belated but very proud celebration: The Gentlemen Series 2 dropped on Netflix on 3rd September — all eight episodes at once of Guy Ritchie's brilliantly stylish crime drama. A year has passed since Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass joined forces in Bobby Glass's criminal empire. Now they're scaling up — taking their operation from the English countryside to Italy, with the Italian mafia and the volatile Bobby growing increasingly dangerous in equal measure. Darker, wider and already renewed for a third season before Series 2 had even landed. Four Guild members were right at the heart of it: James Jordan (VFX Producer), Mirna Kapetanovic-Kennedy (Unit Production Manager), Vincent O'Toole (Financial Controller) and James Knowles (Assistant Production Coordinator).
Released on 9th September, Pressure tells the untold true story of the 72 hours before D-Day — when Britain's chief meteorological officer Group Captain James Stagg was called upon to deliver the most consequential weather forecast in history. With the fate of the Allied invasion hanging on one man's word, Stagg locks into a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership, including Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower. Starring Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser, Kerry Condon, Damian Lewis and Chris Messina. And in cinemas from today, Practical Magic 2 brings back Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as the Owens sisters — nearly 30 years after the beloved original - alongside Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest, Joey King and Maisie Williams. Following Alice Hoffman's novel The Book of Magic, the sisters confront a family curse and unite to break it once and for all.
