A Nobel Prize-winning novel on the big screen, a powerful new British debut feature and a compulsive ITV drama - our Guild Members were at the heart of all three this fortnight.
Earlier this month, Klara and the Sun arrived in cinemas on 23rd October — Taika Waititi’s luminous adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s celebrated novel, following Klara, a solar-powered Artificial Friend whose unwavering loyalty and innocent wonder begin to heal a family harbouring its own secrets. Starring Jenna Ortega, Amy Adams, Natasha Lyonne and Steve Buscemi, the film had its world premiere at the 70th BFI London Film Festival before its wide theatrical release. Two Guild Members were part of the production team: Oliver Mitchell (1st Assistant Accountant) and Angela Kelway (Post Accountant).
Also earlier this month, Adultery launched on ITV1 and ITVX from 25th October - Danny Brocklehurst’s sharp, grown-up six-part drama following two ordinary families whose lives are upended when a chance encounter leads to devastating consequences. Starring Dominic Cooper and Romola Garai, filmed across Lancashire. Guild Member Dave Bowen (Production Accountant) was part of the team.
And in cinemas from today, Animol - the powerful debut feature directed by Ashley Walters, following Troy, a young man thrust into the brutal world of a young offender institution, whose unspoken bond with a fellow inmate offers solace but ultimately becomes a dangerous vulnerability. Guild Member Sheila Fraser Milne (Completion Guarantor Services) was part of the team behind this distinctive and important British film.
