Course Overview

Led by Producer/Line Producer Steve Clark-Hall, this one-day course offers an in-depth, hands-on session with the Movie Magic budgeting software. The course focuses on becoming more proficient in budgeting and managing productions in MMB10. This course is suitable for people with a good knowledge of MMB7, who want to use MMB10.

Training will use a sample schedule with practical exercises to put the manipulation of the software into practice.

 

What does the Course Include:

  • Setting up multi episodic and multi territory productions
  • Setting up UK and Overseas Territory “WAGES LADDERS”
  • Pattern and Amort Budgeting Overview
  • International Tax Credits
  • Using “Library” function
  • Using MMB 10 to manage productions, including Cost Reporting, dealing with “Creative” demands, and managing crew expectations
  • Adjusting the budget to meet Financiers requirements

 

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for people who already have a good working knowledge of MMB10 and wish to improve their practice. It is also for those who are experienced in MMB7 but want to use MMB10. This course is designed for producers, production managers and anyone in accounts or production and ADs moving over to production.

 

Course Tutor:

Steve Clark Hall – Producer/Line Producer

Steve is currently wrapping up a new Netflix TV series Half Bad, having completed work on series 1 of Armando Ianucci’s Avenue 5 for HBO. His recent production, Peter Kosminsky’s  The State  was broadcast on C4/NatGeo in August 2017.   

Steve set up Skyline Films in Edinburgh with his partner Mairi Bett. Steve is a long serving UK producer and acts as a consultant for major film and TV companies, as UK co-producers, executive producer as well as developing original programming.   

He recently produced the Warner Bros production King Arthur – Legend of the Sword. Steve has experience in producing a wide range of productions at different genres, budget levels and for different markets. 

Prior to that he produced the first 4 episodes of the NBC/Carnival miniseries Dracula, based in Budapest and 2 Warner Bros Sherlock Holmes films (director Guy Ritchie, starring Robert Downey Jnr and Jude Law). 

Steve has extensive experience filming outside the UK.  Recently he produced “BRITZ” the BAFTA winning 2 part mini Series Directed by Peter Kosminsky, part of which was filmed in India. He has filmed in South Africa (Regis Warnier’s Man to Man), France (Secret Lies, directed by Julian Fellows), LA (Calendar Girls, directed by Nigel Cole), Hungary (Dracula), Spain (The State) amongst other countries.

 

The online course will be interactive with cameras and microphones on and trainees will be encouraged to ask questions and join discussions, and, we hope, very much enjoy the training.
