Led by Line Producer / UPM Brian Donovan (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Allied and Dracula), this course offers an in-depth, hands-on review of the Movie Magic software and the environment in which they are employed both in Film and TV.

Run across two weekends, attendees are encouraged to attend both in order to fully appreciate how Movie Magic Scheduling and Budgeting are integrated. No previous experience with either is required but basic computer literacy and a familiarity with Film / TV production basics is assumed.

Training will use a training script with practical exercises to put the learning of the software info practice.

  • Introductory overview of Movie Magic Scheduling
  • Breaking down the script with Movie Magic
  • Scheduling on Movie Magic – The Strip Board
  • Designing reports, strips and Dood


BUDGETING: SATURDAY 28th & SUNDAY 29th OCTOBER 2017

  • Introduction to budgeting
  • Overview of Movie Magic Budgeting
  • Introducing Movie Magic Budgeting to the schedule
  • Setting up and applying and working with: currencies, globals, fringes and groups
  • Setting up and using library
  • Setting up the topsheet
  • Working with the data at detail level
  • Contractual charges and tax incentives
  • Preparing for cost reports


By the end of the course you will have a greater understanding of the whole scheduling and budgeting process and feel confident using both Movie Magic Scheduling and Budgeting software on your own productions.

This course is designed for emerging producers, production managers and anyone in accounts or production and ADs moving over to production
