Developing line producing skills - four tailored workshops

In February 2017, we ran a series of workshops designed to assist the continual career progression for:

  • line producers wanting to enhance their skills
  • production managers, production accountants and location managers looking to progress their careers

The day courses included:

Line Producers responsibilities

This covered some key responsibilities of a Line Producers role and how they may differ depending on the size of the budget. It looked at:

  • formulating the business plan
  • understanding budgets
  • building the teams
  • the production period
  • balancing the conflicting interests
  • dealing with difficult people / situations
  • dealing with the financiers
  • the changing market

Full Day Cost £55 + VAT

Finance and Legal

This full day workshop was designed to meet the need of Line Producers and/or Production Managers wishing to take their knowledge to the next level. It ooked at:

  • Financing routes
  • Closing procedures
  • Legal requirements and responsibilities
  • Long form contracting cast key crew members
  • Negotiating Contracts

Full Day cost £55 + VAT

Working with studios –  (morning workshop)

This was an interactive session for Line Producers who want to gain a better understanding of the requirements of working with financiers and Studios. It included:

  • managing financier relationships
  • pitching different projects to different users
  • film / tv is there a difference?

Cost per session £30 + VAT

Cashflow and forecasting –  (afternoon workshop)

This workshop was designed to meet the needs of Line Producers who wish to demystify Cashflow and fore casting and will enable participants to share best practice. Subjects covered included:

  • How to prepare an effective cashflow
  • Checking and monitoring cashflow
  • Budget v cashflow
  • Cost reporting and running the project
  • Working with the Production Accountant
