Introduction to working in the Locations Department

25th and 26th November 2017 at Pinewood Studios. This course is designed to prepare you for working in the locations department in the film and TV industry. The Location Department has a wide and varied remit within a film production: from the creative beginnings starting with script breakdown, working with Directors and Designers and scouting locations, to the logistical and detailed planning of the shoot, enabling all other departments to go about their jobs as smoothly and safely as possible.

Over the two days the course will cover what is expected of you in such a demanding, yet rewarding work environment. It will also help to channel your ambition into achievable career routes into film and TV.

This two-day course will be run by top UK film and TV drama location manager Harriet Lawrence who has worked on productions such as Overlord, My Cousin Rachel, Suffragette, Burton and Taylor, Fleming, Parks and Recreation, Downton Abbey, Dancing on the Edge and Entebbe.

The course will briefly look at an overview of the industry, the different types of productions and then move on to the exciting challenges of scouting, planning the shoot and managing all aspects of the shoot day  It will also cover some of the essential principals of H&S, touch on some of the many things that can be included in the location budget and a few tips of how to take great location recce pictures.
