Course Summary

This course provides a comprehensive overview of efficient payroll processes and the implications of the PACT/BECTU agreements.

Who is the course for

The course is aimed at all grades in the accounts department.

Course modules

The course will consist of 2 standalone days, one focussing on Crew Payroll for Film and the other for TV.

The following will be covered on both days:

  • Efficient payroll processing techniques
  • Being able to interpret a payslip for crew
  • Determining if a role is PAYE, self-employed or Loan Out
  • Implications of IR35

On the film day we will look at handling payroll on films under £30m and the Major Motion Picture Agreement. Discussion will focus on the grey areas and differing interpretations of the agreement.

On the TV day we will look at the TV agreement and the implications and interpretations thereof.

If you choose to do both days, please be aware that there will be significant repetition between the days except for the PACT/BECTU agreement implication.

Course Tutor

This course is led by Financial Controller, Rebecca Wolf. In 2005, Rebecca gave up a career as a qualified accountant to start again as a trainee in production accounting. She worked her way up to financial controller over that time, working in most roles within the accounts department. Rebecca has worked on projects of all sizes from micro-budgets to the studio blockbusters, experiencing all levels of rules and regulations. Her credits as a financial controller include The Secret Garden, Juliet, Naked and Entebbe.
