Supplementary Membership

Supplementary membership is available to those working in production who do not have enough experience to join as a full Production Guild member.

Supplementary membership is available to those working in production who do not have enough experience to join as a full Production Guild member but have adequate experience to work in a production, accounts, locations, ADs, post production or VFX.

The process for supplementary applications is the same as full membership applications except you are asked to demonstrate just one feature film or TV drama credit. This can be at any level. You will need to provide details of one referee you worked for whilst gaining this credit.

Your reference should be from your most recent feature film or TV drama credit. The referee does not need to be a Production Guild member but they must be of comparable standing to PG members within the industry.

Length of time working in the industry, references, experience with industry software, and periods of time out of the industry may also be taken into consideration by the membership committee when reviewing applications.

After completing 3 feature films and/or TV dramas satisfactorily with a range of different senior practitioners and experience, you are then expected to apply for full membership. The maximum period for supplementary membership is three years.

If you haven't already moved up to full membership within three years, you will be asked to apply for it. If you do not meet the criteria for full membership, you may be asked to relinquish your membership unless there are exceptional circumstances. Each member and their circumstances will be treated on an individual basis.

Supplementary membership is £195 per year.

Location Scouts

Those working as location scouts on feature films and/or TV drama productions may be eligible to apply for Supplementary Locations membership. If you wish do to this, please refer to the guidance about applying for supplementary membership. Once accepted by the Membership Committee you are added to the list of names held by the Production Guild and provided to existing members when looking for assistants or those with less experience.

Supplementary Members are kept on a separate section of The Production Guild's availability list and are not able to vote within Guild board member elections or The Production Guild Awards.

If you meet the eligibility criteria you can apply for membership easily online. Each application goes through a rigorous application procedure with our Membership Committee. The deadlines for applications are Feb 1st, May 1st, Aug 1st and Nov 1st.
