The Prince of Wales toured the building with BFI Chair Josh Berger and BFI CEO Amanda Nevill, and was the first VIP guest to the newly developed BFI Riverfront (see attached announcement) where he met film talent including Ruth Wilson, Tom Hiddleston, Hayley Atwell and filmmakers Sarah Gavron, Edgar Wright, Carol Morley, Stephen Woolley, Elizabeth Karlsen, and Sophie Fiennes.
The Prince’s tour also included:
- meeting 6 young filmmakers – all BFI Film Academy Alumni with actor David Oyelowo, Star Wars producers Jason McGatlin and Candice Campos and BFI CEO Ben Roberts
- a visit to the BFI’s 35mm projection box, one of the very few remaining in the UK, in which HRH projected The Pink Panther Strikes Again onto the building’s flagship cinema screen viewing Pink Panther scripts, stills and press campaign books, as well as Peter Sellers’ disguises as Inspector Clouseau in the BFI Reuben Library
- watching rare Victorian era royal films from the BFI National Archive in the BFI Mediatheque
The BFI is the UK’s leading organisation for film, TV and the moving image and a charity governed by Royal Charter.
