After a three-phase, £3.5 million redevelopment and occupation of the Victorian beaux-arts Govan Town Hall, Film City Glasgow has firmly established itself as the heart and soul of Scotland’s screen industry. They have created a sectoral cluster where screen companies co-locate and flourish in close proximity, and They attract indigenous and internationally mobile film and television production to Glasgow and Scotland.
Film City Glasgow offers over 10,000 sq. ft. of business office space exclusively for the screen and wider creative industries, and is now home to over 25 permanent tenants across film, television, post production, VFX, casting, and much more.
Production and office space, including a 5,000 sq ft build space, is available for short term hire on flexible terms, and adaptable to every project and budget. Given the wide throughput of production activity and facilities on offer at Film City, both indigenous and international production work in Scotland will use Their services in some way. From Outlander to Outlaw King, a production based in Scotland will be either developed, based, cast, shot, or post produced at Film City Glasgow.
Their post-production tenants provide Scotland’s largest post footprint under one roof. Serious Facilities are Scotland’s largest commercial post production house, with over 27 individual suites, including fully equipped high-def edit, grading, and sound edit suites. Their sound-post tenant Savalas specialize in film, television and games, and housed the UK’s first Dolby Premier Studio (now with Atmos on site).
Through Their Film City Futures brand, they also offer industry focussed initiatives that are creative, challenging, and most importantly meet the needs of Their industry, from the engagement of new and emerging filmmaking talent, to screen sector business support and company growth. They also host the University of the West of Scotland, who deliver their MA in Filmmaking from Their facility.
