Paul joined First Option Safety Group in September 2015 from the BBC where he was the Director of Workplace and Safety, responsible for the management of the BBC’s estate and for the safety, security and business continuity of all BBC productions and operations.
He is a former Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment and Special Forces who joined the BBC in 2004 as the Head of High Risk becoming the BBC’s Head of Health, Safety and Security in 2007 and subsequently took on the business continuity functions. In 2011, these roles were combined with the Director of Property function.
As Managing Director, Paul has led the development of the company into a full service safety provider across the full range of media and entertainment genre with particular growth in drama production and high risk support. As well as managing the day to day operations of the company, he works with a range of clients to develop their safety policy, systems and culture.
Paul is committed to First Option’s vision of setting new standards of professional service and enabling support.
Paul is an MBE and has an MBA from the Open University and an International Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health and a Graduate member of IOSH. He is a member of the CBI Health and Safety Panel and a member of the standards committee for the National Compliance and Risk Qualification.
